Timesplitters Rewind Timesplitters Rewind THQ Nordic hasn’t revealed if the future of the franchise will involve rebooting the series, continuing on from Future Perfect, or remaking the original three games but, either way, for the sake of authenticity it’s encouraging to see a co-creator on board. While there’s been talk of a TimeSplitters 4 fan project for a while (TimeSplitters Rewind), there’s been little in the way of solid details regarding an official new addition to the series. In a recent press release, THQ Nordic revealed that the company has hired Steve Ellis, one of the original series’ creators, “to help plot the future course for this franchise”. Last year THQ Nordic acquired the rights to the TimeSplitters IP, but we’ve been in the dark as to what the company planned to do with it.

The Time Is Right For Timesplitters Timesplitters 2 The main antagonist in each of the games are the TimeSplitters, a race of aliens who wreak havoc on humanity throughout time as well as their supposed creator Jacob Crow.

Many aspects of the series also focus on often surreal and self-deprecating humor.
Many of the characters represent parodies of established pop culture stereotypes (such as the aristocratic English explorer or the suave secret agent). The look of the series is substantially more stylized than most modern first-person shooters, with character models and expressions emphasizing more cartoon-like qualities and comic book-inspired design. As the title suggests, each game features a time-traveling element that enables players to battle in a temporal war in a diverse number of locations set over the span of several centuries.

The games are often compared to Rare’s shooters GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark since Free Radical Design was founded by a group of ex-Rare employees who developed these games. TimeSplitter 1, TimeSplitter 2, Reaper Splitter, Berserker Splitter & Drone Splitter share the same voice clips. The TimeSplitter storyline actually goes backwards throughout the series, starting with Crow breeding the creatures in Future Perfect, then the TimeSplitters hijacking the space station in TimeSplitters 2 and using the time portal to travel back in time to stop important events in history during TimeSplitters 1. Crow eventually turned himself into a TimeSplitter to gain his lifelong goal eternal life. The TimeSplitter army, created by Crow, was done so during The Machine Wars, in 2243, which Crow actually started. The TimeSplitter mothership was shot down by Cortez in an attempt to save his past self, and to stop any more advances of Berserker Splitters. However, when Sergeant Cortez and Corporal Hart arrived on the Space Station to steal the Crystals, the TimeSplitters started moving the crystals through time, so it would be harder for the humans to retrieve them.įinally, during the events of TimeSplitters Future Perfect, an army of Berserker Splitters led an attack on the rebel base, which was possibly an attempt to prevent Cortez from getting the Time Crystals there. They are an entirely separate race of aliens altogether they were enslaved by the TimeSplitters and controlled through the use of spinal implants, according to their TimeSplitters 2 gallery description.ĭuring the events of TimeSplitters 2, a group of TimeSplitters took control of a Space Station, and kept the Time Crystals in the science bay with the Time Portal. There are five types of TimeSplitter in the whole series, all vastly different in appearance no real explanation has ever been given as to why the TimeSplitters have changed so radically from game to game.ĭespite their title, the Drone Splitters are not TimeSplitters. They are the main antagonists in the series and were created by Jacob Crow as " humankind's genetic superiors". 
The TimeSplitters are a semi- alien race who travel through time, space and dimensions.
